Kolkata, 2nd October 2024 – The grand inauguration of Newtown Sarbojanin Durgotsab 2024 took place with great enthusiasm at City Square Ground, marking the beginning of this year’s Durga Puja festivities. The event was graced by the presence of 108 inspiring women leaders, who lit the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the strength, grace, and power of MaaDurga. These women, coming from diverse fields, came together to celebrate the divine feminine energy, making the occasion a heartfelt tribute to empowerment and unity.
This year, the theme of the Durga Puja draws inspiration from ancient India and Tagore’s Meghdoot, blending traditional heritage with cultural richness, offering devotees a unique experience of spirituality and artistic grandeur.
The inauguration also saw the launch of the **annual Sharadpatrika, “Sharadpata,” from the Puja courtyard stage, further adding to the excitement of the celebrations. The Sharadpatrika is a significant part of the event, symbolizing the tradition and literary contributions of the festival.
In addition to the spiritual and cultural elements, the much-anticipated Ahaare Sarbojanin was also inaugurated during the event. This unique food festival, a part of the Durga Puja celebrations, promises to bring together diverse flavors and culinary delights, offering something for every palate.
The President of the Newtown Sarbojanin Durgotsab Samiti, Lakshmi Kanta Kar, and Secretary, Samaresh Das, expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the inauguration and extended their warmest regards to all attendees.
