The Rotary Club of Salt Lake Silicon Valley, in collaboration with the Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) Kolkata, the University of Engineering & Management (UEM) Kolkata, and SMART Society USA, organised the Global Excellence Award ceremony on Friday. The event honoured individuals for their exceptional contributions in health science, technology, and other significant areas.

Dr. Susanta Roy Chowdhury, ICMR Emeritus Scientist, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, was recognised for his work in science and technology. Dr. Shanta Dutta, Director and Scientist, ICMR-National Institute for Research in Bacterial Infection, was celebrated for her advances in combating bacterial infections. Debashis Sen, Founder Director & CEO, New Bengal Consulting Pvt Ltd, was acknowledged for his leadership in technology and administration. Sanjay Kumar Das, Managing Director, WEBEL, received recognition for his efforts in IT and cybersecurity. Dr. Krishnendu Gupta, District Governor, Rotary District 3291, was honoured for his contributions to the health sector.

In IT and electronics, Abhishek Kumar, Deputy Director, Software Technology Parks of India, was recognised for his role in advancing technological innovations. Somnath Chatterjee, Centre Head, Webel Fujisoft Vara CoE, was honoured for his leadership and contributions in science and technology. Uday Kumar, popularly known as “one-leg Uday,” received special recognition for his inspiring journey and resilience.

Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director, IEM, expressed pride in the event, highlighting its role in celebrating exceptional achievements.

Dr. Prabir Kumar Das, President, Rotary Club of Salt Lake Silicon Valley, and Dr. Samapika Das Biswas, Coordinator, Global Excellence Award, commended the event’s success in showcasing remarkable talent and contributions to science and innovation.
