Recently, the sixth Kolkata International Micro Film Festival was held at the Moulali Youth Center in Kolkata. The festival took place on January 17th, 18th, and 19th, showcasing over 100 short, micro, and documentary films from around 25 countries. On the final day, January 19th, awards were presented for the best short, micro, documentary, and mobile films in the International, National, and Regional categories. Awards were also given for best director, actor, and actress in these categories.

Renowned figures from the Bengali film industry, including directors Satarupa Sanyal and Ananya Chakraborty, actors Debdut Ghosh, Arindam Ganguly, Swati Mukherjee, Mallika Sinha Roy, writer Padmini Dutta Sharma, Chumki Chattopadhyay, and Jayati Roy, were present at the awards ceremony. In the International category, China’s short film “Chill Raven” was awarded Best Short Film, Iran’s Nader Saadat Serki won Best Director, the Best Documentary Director award went to Igor Ivanov from the USA, and the Best Student Film was “Sunny Side Up” from the Czech Republic.

In the National category, the short film “Waza” and the documentary “Himalayan Odyssey” won the top honors. Actor Arindam Ganguly won Best Short Film Director for “Radhuni.” Arnab Biswas made a new record by winning the Best Director award for three consecutive years with his microfilm “Journey,” after previously winning for “Apaha Jibanam” and “Sayahne” at the fourth and fifth editions of the festival.

In the Regional category, “Banglar Jatra Pala” was awarded Best Student Film, “Am Aatir Panchali” won Best Documentary, and “A Walk to Eternity” was recognized as Best Short Film. Several other films were also honored. The award for Best Actress went to the esteemed Bengali actress Chhanda Karanji Chattopadhyay.
