For the first time, a record number of 36 Eminent School Alumni Teams across the city participated with 2 participants from each team. Around 350 audience members cheered the 72 participants on stage.
The annual event was anchored by Sri Rajat Baid, an authority in conduction of Antakshari and also an Alumnus of Birla High School (1989 batch).
The evening started with the National Anthem after which a one minute silence was observed for ABHAYA as a mark of respect and condolence. It was followed by the welcome address from the President of the BHSA, Mr. Sachin Saraff.
After a marathon 180 minutes of musical battle between the teams, spread over three semi-final rounds and a final round of 12 teams each round. St. Xavier’s ( ALSOC ), represented by Rohit Bihani & Umang Agarwal, were the winners. Birla High School Alumni were the 1st Runners-Up and Gyan Bharti Alumni were the 2nd Runners-Up. There were interesting rounds with the support of Audio and visual clues. Sophisticated Buzzers were used to add to the excitement of the event. An orchestra team provided the musical support to the melodious songs rendered by the enthusiastic participants.
A surprise award for the most Melodious Voice was given to Ms Sayani Bhattacharya of Our Lady Queen of The Mission Alumni for her performance in the Online segment of FUNTAKSHARI 11.
Past President – BHSA & Convener of the event, Mr. Arun Kumar Dalmia gave the vote of thanks.
The event was a stupendous success due to the kind patronage of the Management and staff of the Vidya Mandir Society, the Principal of Birla High School & Chairperson-BHSA, Mrs.Loveleen Saigal, Board Members of the BHSA Alumni, who worked tirelessly in execution of the event and finally with the excellent anchoring by Sri Rajat Baid. It indeed took Funtakshari 11 to a new benchmark level.
