Kolkata, December 2024 – Nephro Care India proudly marked its third anniversary with a grand celebration aimed at raising awareness about kidney health. To commemorate this milestone, the organization hosted a Walkathon titled ‘Walk for Health, Walk for Your Kidneys’. The event, which saw the enthusiastic participation of over 400 people, highlighted the importance of lifestyle changes, especially regular exercise, in maintaining kidney health.
The Walkathon commenced from Nephro Care and culminated at Hotel Golden Tulip, creating a spirited atmosphere as participants, including several eminent personalities, walked together to promote the message of healthy living. Prominent figures such as Mr. Ram Krishna Jaiswal (Consulate of Maldives), Mr. Arindam Sil (Actor, Film Director, and Producer), and Mr. Ashish Mittal (Director, Golden Tulip Hotel) graced the event with their presence.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder & Director of Nephro Care India Ltd, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and shared Nephro Care’s vision for a healthier future. “As we celebrate our third anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to the prevention and treatment of kidney disease. In India, where lifestyle disorders are among the leading causes of kidney ailments, prevention through simple lifestyle changes, such as 30 minutes of brisk walking daily, is paramount. At Nephro Care, we aim to touch a million lives by setting up 300 holistic kidney care units nationwide. Together, we can combat this silent epidemic of kidney disease.”
The Walkathon was followed by a tea session and a motivational address by Dr. Sengupta, who highlighted the institution’s innovative and compassionate approach to kidney care. Nephro Care’s unique philosophy integrates medical diagnosis with mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being to provide comprehensive care tailored to individual patients.
Nephro Care has been at the forefront of renal care since its inception in December 2021. Under the leadership of Bharat Jyoti Awardee Dr. Pratim Sengupta, it has earned its reputation as one of the most esteemed kidney care institutions in India. On its second anniversary last year, Nephro Care introduced its mascot, Mr. Nephrocare, to connect with the community and raise awareness about kidney health. This year, the mascot toured key city locations to further reinforce the importance of regular check-ups and holistic treatment.
Addressing a Silent Epidemic:
Kidney disease is a growing epidemic in India, with one in eleven individuals potentially at risk of renal failure. Diabetes and hypertension are the leading causes, contributing to over 30% of chronic kidney cases. Painkiller abuse ranks third as a significant factor. The disease often progresses silently, with symptoms emerging only after significant kidney damage has occurred.
Nephro Care India is dedicated to combating this crisis through prevention, early detection, and comprehensive renal care. This year has been a landmark one for the organization, marked by its SME IPO listing on July 5th and the inauguration of its new Vivacity Multispecialty Hospital in Madhyamgram, Kolkata on July 15th.
