Kolkata, February 16, 2025: Deepak Parekh-backed multi-speciality healthcare provider Nephro Care India Limited (NCIL) has announced the launch of its holistic health and wellness program “Mukti” at Vivacity Multispeciality Hospital in Madhyamgram, to ensure overall well-being of individuals.
Mukti, which is a flagship initiative of Nephro Care India, is almost over a decade old program and has several customised offerings to address specific concerns of patients suffering from various ailments apart from promoting preventive healthcare practices. Through this initiative, the company has been able to reach out to over 8,000 people suffering from diverse medical ailments including CKD, diabetes, hypertension and auto immune disorder among others.

As a part of this launch, the company has introduced three specific programs including Renoguard 360 to ensure well-being of patients suffering from kidney disease and those undergoing dialysis; Diaguard 360 – to address the specific concerns of people suffering from diabetes and ReShape 360 to help manage the growing problem of obesity in India. The company is exploring the possibility of tying up with multiple health care providers, clinics and hospitals to roll out these programs on franchisee model.

Commenting on the inauguration of Mukti at Vivacity Multispeciality Hospital, Dr Pratim Sengupta, senior nephrologist and Founder, MD & CEO, NCIL, said, “Today healthcare has turned into sick care and we only go to hospitals when we fall sick. The Mukti program has been envisioned with the idea of integrating ancient yogic wisdom with modern medicine so as to provide both physical and mental well-being to individuals. After all, a good and fit body ensures a healthy mind. Yoga has two aspects – one is therapeutic which helps a person suffering from an ailment and the other one is preventive which helps ensure an individual stays in good health. Through Mukti we intend to reach out to both these set of people.”
According to data available on the National Institutes of Health, non-communicable illnesses and injuries including hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, lung disease, chronic renal disease, trauma, stroke, and chronic obstructive and mental disorders are responsible for 52 per cent of fatalities In India. WHO data suggests that the number of deaths due to NCDs and lifestyle diseases is increasing yearly.
India has an estimated 82 million patients suffering from diabetes. Prevalence of obesity is also high at around 40.3 per cent. Obesity is the highest among aging urban men and women who tend to lead a sedentary lifestyle.
“The three programs – Renoguard 360, Diaguard 360 and ReShape 360 has been curated very carefully to help people suffering from renal problems, diabetes and obesity through the practice of Yoga. This is possibly the first time that an ultra-modern multispeciality hospital is dedicating an entire facility to ensure good health and holistic well-being of not just its patients, but also healthcare practitioners as well as the general public. The Mukti program will be open to general people who are not necessarily patients,” Dr Sengupta said.
