Kolkata, February 18, 2024: The vibrant and culturally rich city of Kolkata witnessed Sahitya AajTak 2024, a literary extravaganza organized by the India Today Group. The event, showcased the finest talents in literature, music, and art, making it a memorable experience for attendees.

The first day of the event was marked by insightful discussions, captivating performances, and engaging conversations on various aspects of literature and culture. From discussions on books, poetry, to the melodies of music, Sahitya AajTak 2024 offered a diverse range of experiences to its audience.

On the first day of the event, the ‘Halla Bol Chaupal’ stage witnessed captivating performances and thought-provoking discussions. Renowned folk singer Mame Khan from Rajasthan mesmerized the audience with his soulful rendition of traditional folk songs. The session titled “Bharat- Ek Hindu Rashtra???” featured esteemed personalities such as Tathagata Roy, Author, Former Governor of Tripura, Former State President of BJP; Ashutosh, Journalist & Author of ‘Hindu Rashtra’, ‘The Crown Prince, the Gladiator and the Hope: Battle for Change’, ‘Anna: 13 Days That Awakened India’; and Hindol Sengupta, Author of ‘Soul & Sword – The History of Political Hinduism’. This session sparked meaningful conversations on contemporary socio-political issues.

The evening continued with electrifying performances by icons of Indian music and cinema. The legendary Usha Uthup enthralled the audience with her iconic numbers, while Tollywood superstar Jeet left the crowd spellbound with his presence. Additionally, actor and singer Talat Azeez and singer Jabir Jassi added to the evening’s allure with their captivating performances.

Meanwhile, at the “Dustak Darbar” stage, poetry enthusiasts were treated to an array of soul-stirring verses and discussions. Poets like Munni Gupta, Anil Pushkar, Anand Gupta, and Poonam Sonchatra showcased the power of words through their poetry recitations.

The event also delved into literary topics, with sessions like “Bangla Kabita: Tagore & Beyond” featuring poet Srijato in conversation with Souvik Guha Sarkar, and “Mythology Banaam Mithya – Upanyas Banaan” with renowned mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik.

Furthermore, discussions on social issues and entrepreneurship added depth to the festival. Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group, and Sundeep Bhutoria, Author and Social-Cultural Activist, shared valuable insights during the session on “Udyog Gharane, Samajik Sarokar”.

The event concluded on a poetic note with a captivating “Kavi Sammelan”, featuring eminent poets like Seraz Khan Batish, Ramnath Bekhabar, Pramod Shah Nafees, Gyan Prakash Pandey, and Rawel Pushp, who left the audience enchanted with their verses.
