VFS Capital Limited, a Kolkata-based leading NBFC-MFI felicitated six rural women entrepreneurs of West Bengal, to recognize their courage and power of breaking all the stereotype and ventured into the world of business to alleviate poverty and lead a respectful life in the society. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Dinesh Kumar Khara, Chairman of State Bank of India, who felicitated the entrepreneurs.

The women entrepreneurs who were felicitated, have overcome various challenges and barriers to create successful micro and small businesses in their respective fields. They have not only brought prosperity to their families but have also created employment opportunities for their communities. These women entrepreneurs are:

• Raunaque Jahan Ansari, a resident of Bankra Howrah, and she is into readymade clothing business
• Mala Manna, a resident of Amta, Howrah. She is into Stamp Ticket business
• Rumpa Dolui, a resident of Ranihati, Howrah, and her entrepreneurial venture is into Zari Work
• Papiya Manna, a resident of Jujarsaha, Howrah, and she is into Tailoring work
• Sagari Ruidas, a resident of Panpur, Howrah, and she sells Sarees
• Chaitali Chakraborty, a resident of Bilaspur, Howrah, and she is sells phenyl

The event organised by VFS Capital was a testament to the power of women entrepreneurship in alleviating poverty and driving economic growth. VFS Capital has supported these women entrepreneurs in their journey by providing financial assistance and training. Their contributions have not only helped these women to realize their dreams but also contributed to the development of the local economy and created employment opportunities for others.

The highlight of the event was the launch of noted columnist, Tamal Bandypadhyay’s book ‘Roller Coaster: An Affair with Banking’. The special session around the launch of this book was organised in association with Jaico Publishing House.
